Internet - Want to add the current web page to your favorites? Press CTRL and D and you won’t have to reach for that mouse!

Want to see what other web pages are linking to your website or blog? Type your link in the search engine – for example, http://www.ericspellmann.com – and it will display all pages that link to ericspellmann.com.

Browsing the Internet can be tedious. Going from page to page can get quite old. Over time, I’ve discovered some little-known tips that speed up my surfing significantly. For instance, have you ever been to a website and the text is too small to read?

Well, just hold down your Control button and start spinning the little mouse wheel. You can increase and decrease the size of your web page fonts on the fly! But what if you just need to see more of the web page on your monitor. Just hit your F11 key and it goes fullscreen.

Hitting F11 again brings back your toolbars. I use this mode when showing websites to friends and customers. It gives me the maximum amount of web page real estate.

Finally, if you want a quick update, instead of clicking the refresh button, simply hit F5. It’s much quicker.

Quickly bookmark any web page in all major browsers by pressing CTRL + D on your keyboard. Pressing these two keys together will open the bookmarks or favorites for your browser and allow you to quickly place a bookmark for the page you’re currently visiting.

Come across a website you want to share with a friend? If you’re in Internet Explorer, simply click File, Send, and “Page by E-mail”. If you do not see the File menu, press the Alt key.

Like a picture you find on the Internet? In Internet Explorer, right-click on it and choose “Set as Background.” Make sure you have permission.  Now, you can view it every day!

To automatically delete your Temporary Internet files when you close Internet Explorer, pull down the Tools menu. Under the General tab, look for the “Browsing History” section.  Check the box labeled “Delete browsing history on exit.”

Has a web page changed in the last few minutes? Find out by hitting F5. This is the keyboard equivalent of clicking the “Refresh” button on the toolbar..
